On December 18, a video titled “Girls’ Generation YOONA and HYOYEON’s daytime drinking” was published on the YouTube channel of Hyoyeon.
During the episode, Yoona was asked if she had recently had a meal with other friends. She replied, “Other friends? Members? Well, Sunny unnie came to Korea. So I met Sunny unnie.”
Yoona then mentioned the episode featuring Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, where the latter discussed a time when only a few Girls’ Generation members gathered for Yoona’s birthday, which left Hyoyeon feeling left out.
According to Hyoyeon, she asked why she wasn’t invited in the members’ group chat, before jokingly complaining that she thought remembered Yoona’s birthday wrong and questioning why the members hung out without her.
At the time, Sooyoung explained that when all 8 members of Girls’ Generation try to meet, it’s hard to coordinate schedules, as even just checking everyone’s availability takes a long time. Meanwhile, it’s simpler with 4 people, and since they thought they would see each other again soon, the 4 members decided to have a meal, thinking all 8 of them could just gather later.
Regarding her birthday celebration, Yoona recalled that she felt hurt when everyone declined her invitation to meet.
According to the female idol, she mentioned that her birthday was approaching in the members’ group chat, and asked everyone if they should have a meal together. However, no one was available, so it was disappointing. In the end, the conversation ended with plans to pick a different date.
Yoona continued that previously, for Sooyoung’s birthday, a few of the members went out for barbecue and found a great place, thinking they would come back when the chances come. Later, Sooyoung and Tiffany asked Yoona when she was free, and they ended up going there again.
“So I went, thinking the unnies were treating me to a meal, but it almost turned into a birthday party. It felt almost like my birthday party”, she said, adding, “If that’s the case, I thought it would have been nice if all the members were there together.”
To this, Hyoyeon responded, “Ah, but I can’t even sulk about this. I tried to sulk on purpose. I tried to act disappointed, but I just can’t. Because even though other friends celebrated on the day, even if it was after your birthday, I’m so grateful they did.”
Then, when Yoona teased, “Why didn’t you celebrate for me?”, Hyoyeon laughed and said, “I can buy you lots of delicious food.”
In the end, Hyoyeon concluded that Yoona must have been a bit disappointed and promised to do better next year.
